June 13-26 Fishing report
Summer Bite is Heating Up Offshore!
Welcome to the latest fishing report from Just Kickin' Back Charters! We’ve been launching consistently out of the Kingfish Boat Ramp on Anna Maria Island, and the gulf has been treating our clients to some incredible box-filling action. Whether you are looking for a deep-water grind or a fun day nearshore with the family, the bite is on.
Offshore Reefs (90' to 140')
If you’re looking to stock the freezer with choice fillets, our 8-hour offshore trips are delivering the goods. We are finding a consistent Red Grouper bite in the 90-to-140-foot range. Mixed right in on the hard bottom, the panfish action has been relentless. We are pulling up excellent numbers of:
Lane Snapper
Vermilion Snapper
Mangrove Snapper
Tactical Tip: Drop down live pinfish or large cut bait for the bigger reds, and scale down your tackle with fresh squid or shrimp to target the snappers on the same spots.
Nearshore Action
Our shorter 4- and 6-hour nearshore trips are perfect for steady rod-bending action. The shallower structures are holding plenty of delicious Hogfish, aggressive Grunts, and Porgies.
We’ve also run into some absolute tackle-testing Gag Grouper nearshore. While these beasts are strictly catch-and-release right now, they are providing our anglers with unforgettable fights and incredible photos before a safe release.
Wreck Fishing: Monster Drag-Screamers
For the adrenaline junkies, the local wrecks are absolutely alive. If you want to test your strength, we are tangling with high-flying Barracuda, massive Sharks, and Volkswagen-sized Goliath Groupers. Bring your heavy gear and hold on tight!
