Anna Maria Island Fishing Report: Red Grouper & Snapper July 1-20

The summer bite is in full swing here around Anna Maria Island, and we’ve been keeping the rods bent both nearshore and way offshore. Whether you want to head deep for hard-fighting reef giants or stay closer to land for consistent rod-popping action, the fish are cooperating!

As a reminder, all of our trips comfortably leave out of Kingfish Boat Ramp right here in Holmes Beach. It’s the perfect central launching spot to get us away from the dock and right onto the fish without wasting any fishing time.

🌊 Offshore: Red Grouper & Big Mangos

The offshore wrecks and hard-bottom patches have been absolutely on fire. Red Grouper season is delivering some incredible fish right now. We've been targeting them with live pinfish and cut bait on the bottom, and they are hitting aggressively—just make sure your drag is locked down tight so they don't rock you!

Along with the grouper, the Mangrove Snapper bite offshore has been stellar. These smart fish require a bit of finesse, but we’ve been scaling down our tackle and getting rewarded with some true "mango" giants that make incredible table fare.

⚓ Nearshore: Flounder & Snapper in the Shallows

If you prefer to stay closer to the beaches of Holmes Beach or within sight of land, you aren't missing out on the action. The nearshore structures and ledges are loaded with life.

We’ve been putting our clients on a steady rhythm of Snapper and a fantastic run of Flounder. Bouncing jigs tipped with live shrimp or small baitfish along the bottom has been the ticket to filling the cooler with these delicious flatfish.

We are right in the middle of our classic Florida summer pattern, which means we are keeping a very close eye on the weather every single day. Those afternoon thermal thunderstorms like to pop up quickly.

Your safety and comfort are always our number one priority. If a storm rolls through, we will always play it smart—whether that means tweaking our departure time slightly to dodge a cell or shifting our game plan to stay nearshore where we can tuck away safely if needed.
